The Opportunity

Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative strives to be a catalyst to develop, nurture, and sustain partnerships of residents, agencies, and institutions in one of Washington, DC’s most vulnerable and at-risk communities for families and children. They provide on-the-ground wrap-around services and engage on the community level however they needed to amplify the work they are doing and had been doing for East of the River residents.

The Work

We are a strategic partner helping them to tell their story by starting and executing a newsletter, and podcast and ensuring consistent media coverage highlighting all of their activities. Drawing attention to—and helping reporters to shape these stories—goes a long way to changing the narrative about what poverty looks like, and what it doesn’t look like and puts human faces on the challenges our neighbors face and the innovative way that groups like Far Southeast are lifting the people they serve into jobs and careers that can sustain their families.
